Bebe Neuwirth

So my Musical Theatre Techniques teacher, Jeff Saver (brilliant and a sweetheart... I'll tell more about how amazing he is later), pretty much knows EVERYONE in this business it feels like... including Bebe Neuwirth. In fact he is very good friends with her. So she's performing here with the Pittsburgh Symphony this weekend and invited Jeff and some of his students to watch a rehearsal with her and the orchestra and so of course I got to go! SOO COOL.

If you don't know her, she is AMAZING. Here's her credits:

Velma Kelly in the revival of Chicago.
Original Sheila in A Chorus Line.
The Boss in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Tony Award winner for Best Featured Actress in Damn Yankees
Dr. Frasier Crane on the hit comedy series Cheers-- in which she won two Emmy Awards
And many more...

She is such a talented performer and such a wonderful person. After we saw her perform, we were privileged enough to sit down and have a little questionare with her. Way cool!
I swear I've met so many amazing/famous performers ever since I've come to Point Park. I'm so happy to be here :)

Freshman Showcase

The freshman showcase is the big chance for the freshman theatre majors to show off their talents to the rest of the upperclassman and parents. We did three main group numbers, that everyone was in, and then everyone else did either a group number, duet, or solo.
All year, there has been this rumor going around our school (started by the head of the conservatory departments), that apparently our class is the best freshman class that (so far) has come into Point Park, so we kind of had a lot of pressure going into this freshman showcase... ya know, to prove to everyone that we really were as good as everyone says.

So we worked our butts off by rehearsing all January and February and I think we eventually ended up meeting everyone's expectations! I'm so proud of our class! We all worked so hard. I'm also so thankful to be together with such a talented class!

I sang a "Jazz-Medley" with this kid named Alex. You can watch it here if you'd like!

Also, to check out the rest of the performances just type in POINT PARK FRESHMAN SHOWCASE and you can watch some of them. They're ALL so wonderful!

Sawyer and I ended up being opposites for one of the group numbers AND we stood right next to each other... haha can you tell we're close friends?

Sawyer's parents flew from Atlanta to see us perform and then they took some of us to Hard Rock after. So nice!

THE AFTER PARTY:
Me and my wonderful girlfriends (Katie, Sawyer, and Audrey) had girl talk and pigged out on some dessert!

I love these girls.

Spring Break 08: Allentown, PA

Rather than showing my lovely lady lumps and earning beads (which I do all the time... you know me...), this spring break I went with my friend Sawyer Armstrong to her grandparents house in Allentown Pennsylvania! If you don't know where that is, it is on the out skirts of Philadelphia, which is on the OTHER side of Pennsylvania.
We took a 6 hour greyhound bus trip and then her grandparents drove us back because our Freshman Showcase is this weekend so they're coming to see it.
It was a nice, relaxing get-a-way:
A little shopping, nice home-cooked meals, some movies, and all around relaxing--perfect medicine for our busy musical theatre lives :)

I thought after high school I would never again ride a bus for long periods of time.... but I guess I was wrong.
WooHoo for Greyhounds baby!!

Of course I had to take a couple pictures with this...

I wanted to get a hair layered and my bangs trimmed, so her grandma suggested the place she went too. So we ended up going there, but as soon as we walked in, we realized there were just old people. haha we thought it was funny.

But it ended up turning out pretty good :)

One day, we met up with our friend Adam, who lives really close to Sawyer's grandparents. It was fun to see friends outside of our confined school setting.

No one has cars in downtown Pittsburgh, so it was so weird to see Adam driving!! ahh!!

We thought this was funny...

It was really so nice to get out of the city and just chillax :) Nice, quiet spring break.

Cinderella

Just like Pocahontas, RWS & Associates called me again and asked me to be a 'strolling character' for an event called "Kid-A-Palooza."

This time I was Cinderella! It was so fun!

Alice, Cindy, & Snow White
We all go to Point Park too, so it was fun to be with girls I knew.

Kid-A-Palooza! It was at this HUGE convention center.
That white tent thing was the "Princess Pavilion" and where all three of us hung out for the day. They decorated it like a castle on the outside, but you just can't see it because it was on the other side.

Bob the Builder! Can we built it? Yes. We. Can!

Cinderella? or freaky cone-headed woman?
You decide...

My wig was awesome! haha.

Me and my knight in shining armor!
Oh wait, but he's really gay.

--story of my life...

It was really fun to be an actual disney princess for a day. Especially Cinderella! I was really privileged that I could take over for her for a day :)
Although it was REALLY exhausting, I still had such a blast! I tried to make it as magical as possible for all the little girls waiting in line.

When I was studying up some things about Cinderella Friday night, I really sat down and looked at the lyrics to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and realized how much I loved them.
Disney always has the best messages, even though they're cheesy (much like me), they are the best.

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes:

A dream is wish your heart makes
When you're past asleep
In dreams, you will lose your heartache
Whatever you wished for, you keep

Have faith in your dream and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling too
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true

Thanks Disney, for the wonderful message for the day :) I needed a good little reminder about my dreams just like that.
