pittsburgh picnic

(i love stealing pictures from facebook that my friends took :) this is the only way you'll ever get to see pictures...haha)

the first week we were here, a bunch of us ventured over to the university of pitt's campus (because we have no grassy area in the middle of downtown) and we had a picnic! super fun!

so here's some pic's!

oh theatre majors.... :)

some of the roomies (we have yet to get all 7 of us together....)
beautiful sunset too!

we're fun.

its so crazy coming back to pittsburgh and realizing that even though you haven't been together all summer, the friendship you left is still here and still strong.

great friendships never die :)

back in pittsburgh

THE BROTHEL

i moved back to pittsburgh probably a week and a half ago, but this time i am NOT in the dorms!! thank goodness!! i'm living off campus, just outside the city. it's a lot cheaper that way AND nicer than being cooped in the gross dorms.

i live in a big house with 6 other girls. so there is 7 of us total. pretty big... i know, right? we all have our own room, 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 sets of washers and dryers, and its 4 stories. i'm in the basement all by myself with my own bathroom :) pretty nice actually. it's my own little "nook."
because we have so many girls in one house, we like to call our home the brothel.... which explains the little "subtitle"

i googled "brothel" and this is what came up. we image that this is what our house will eventually look like.

ANTHONY RAPP: WITHOUT YOU

just last weekend i had the amazing opportunity to see this "one man show" (i would call it) for free! because i work in the box office for my school, i was able to get some free tickets.. so a group of us got together and saw the show.
here's a blurb from City Theatre's website about the show:

Without You is adapted from Anthony Rapp’s book, Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent, published by Simon & Schuster. Anthony is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in Rent and performing it on Broadway and in the 2005 film adaptation.

he shares his audition for Rent, getting cast, rehearsals, and his view from the stage during the tribute performance on the night after Jonathan Larson’s (the musical director and composer of the show) tragic death. Without You also details Anthony’s achingly beautiful relationship with his mother during this turbulent time.

when i first walked in to the show, i didn't really know what the show was going to be about, but when i left i was a hot mess. a whirlwind of emotions were running through me. it was so amazingly beautiful. you could definitely say that it hit home. right in the middle of home. oh it was so beautiful.

if you're interested, here's the website that explains more and it has a little video clip of his performance.

it was nice to come home and see theatre. i had forgotten how much unique, beautiful, majestic theatre exists in this city. it also made me get excited to start school again. i get to work on and learn more things about what i am passionate for--theatre. like i get to do this for the rest of my life.... ya know? wow! i'm so lucky to go to school for something i love so much! yay i love theatre. and i'm ready to start up another year here at Point Park. sophomore year here i come!

here's some of the lyrics to the main song, which is from the show "RENT"

Without you, the hand gropes
the ear hears
the pulse beats

Without you, the eyes gaze
the legs walk
the lungs breathe

The mind churns
the heart yearns
the tears dry without you

Life goes on
but I'm gone
'cause I die, without you
without you
without you
without you.....

unemployed.

so my contracted ended. probably like a week ago, but i am still in virginia. i'll be here until thursday and then i'm moving back to pittsburgh and starting another semester of school! ahh!
anyway, so i had to say goodbye to some people who have made this summer so AMAZING. seriously such a fun summer...

"it's the friends we meet along life's road who help us appreciate the journey..."

kinsey and kenny. my wonderful roomies (well the ones that were there most of the time)
so many inside jokes with these two i can't even count.

the only other girl in my cast of 20 guys. lindsay.
i grew so close to this sweet, talented, crazy lady.

my talented partner and one of my best friends here. greg.
he has kept me laughing all summer.

virginia is for lovers

this tourist 'slogan'--virginia is for lovers-- is sort of ironic considering my case....

so this is zach. yes a boy. a boyfriend actually. i met him at the park (busch gardens... he also works there) he sings and plays the guitar, harmonica, and mandolin. he graduated from Ball State in Indiana and he's just super talented. we've been together for almost 2 months now. i figured i should say something, even though my sister already has....
anyway, he's just a breath of fresh air. i have so much fun with him and can talk to him about anything. he's already my best friend. not to mention he's super cute :)

(below: hanging out before the entertainment banquet... aka "prom")

walmart has ruined my blogging...

so the only way i can put up pictures is if i get them from a cd because my usb thing on my camera is missing a piece... so i went to walmart, got some cd's made, put it in my computer and now its stuck. and yes i already have tried everything... i even went to best buy and the geek squad couldn't figure it out... so now i'm screwed.
thanks walmart.

but hey, lets look on the bright side... if you want to see some picture's of our girls trip you can just go onto my sister's blog... she's got it all.

i'll also try to find some pictures on facebook and post them as well. :)

surprise visit!!

i had a three way conversation with my mom, becky and amy (sisters) the other day and they told me that they are coming to visit me in two weeks!! SURPRISE!! ah!!! i'm so happy. i'm leaping and yelling every where i go because i'm so excited!! i can't even sleep. i'm serious.
oh we're going to have so much fun!!! they get to come see me perform here in virginia and just hang with me!! we're all going to cram into my little apartment and have girly time and laugh and squeal and be loud. basically be typical glauser girls. :)

oh i'm so excited i can't stand it!!! :)

me and mom.

me and beck.

scott and amy. (haha. i don't have a picture with amy on my computer... how sad is that?! we'll totally have to change that when you come to visit :) )

***girls night pictures coming soon*** :)

not a city girl

so i finally popped my New York City cherry... a group of us from Busch Gardens went up to the big apple. it was everything i expected and more. it was fabulous :)

i will post pic's up later, but i must say that after being in the actual new york city, i must say that i am not a "city girl." not yet anyway (i will be someday). pittsburgh is not half as brilliant as NYC (as most everyone knows) so, therefore i will change the name to my blog. i'm not quite sure yet, but something else. haha.

starlight orchestra performance pictures!

now you all can see that i'm ACTUALLY in a show! (instead of just talking about how i'm performing this summer)

my friend lindsay, who is in the cast, had some of her friends take pictures of the show.... so this is courtesy of her!
thanks linds :)
DISCLOSURE: these are all action shots, so some of the faces may be a litttttle crazy.

this is my cast: GREG, ME, LINDSAY, and JOSH
aren't they just cute?? i love them. we all get along so well.

this is our opening number "Tuxedo Junction" (this is manhattan transfer singing it. we sound a little different but just because its a different arrangement, but pretty much the same song).

now these are our second outfits the dreaded GOWNS (haha they're hot, but they look great on stage). right here we're singing a little medley type thing of this song "Birdland" and then in transitions into all of our fun solo's we have.

and yes, we have one more dress.. this cute little light blue one. this me and greg singing "Sway With Me"
***might i add.. we have such amazing songs to sing!! oh my gosh i love them.***

this is our finale.. its two songs mixed together: "It Don't Mean a Thing, if it Ain't Got That Swing" and "Sing Sing Sing" (and these are only a FEW songs that we sing in the show... we have so much more jazzy classics. love it)

oh and did i mention that we drum too??!! :) this show is sooo fun! i never get sick of it.

love the music, love the band behind us, love the cast, love the costumes, love the park.... i just love it all :) couldn't ask for more.

bare essential make up

(very true)
so i converted to new make up.

my roommate (kinsey) and i went to sephora to test try some new make up, and bare essentials felt really good on my face, looked good on my face, and is, believe it or not, HEALTHY for my face!

only $60 for all this!! (originally $180)
i haven't spent this much money on make up, but seriously, this is the greatest thing that has happened since sliced bread.
i'm very pleased with my purchase and urge anyone who wants new make up to definitely try this. :)

happy father's day

a father is someone that... (my father at least)

makes sure you do what your mother says
holds back your hair when you are sick
lets you eat ice cream for breakfast
walks you down the aisle
gives you nicknames to make you feel extra special
isn't afraid to acknowledge the elephant in the room
has the voice of a lion
but the heart of an angel
makes up songs about your friends names
gets kicked out of your basketball game because he's yelling to loud
makes the best mix cd's
is always up for a good discussions
pops your toes
gets all the cracks out of your back
is the best golfer
is the biggest jokster in the world
gives you money if you rub his feet
farts at the dinner table
is the best bargainer (he always lowered the prices)
cooks the best krepes in the world
scares your date by simply cleaning off his gun
is good at everything he does
rubs his stubbly face on your cheeks
teaches you how to drive stick
makes his presence known
is always up for camping
isn't afraid to go up and talk to someone
lipsinks
lets you comb his chest hair
plays the guitar
writes songs about your mom
tells the best jokes
doesn't like wearing ties
falls asleep while watching golf
tickles you until you're about to pee your pants
scares your friends
obnoxiously squirts you with water
sits and plays with the kids for hours
is not afraid to throw you realllly high in the air
works extra hard
lets you cuddle with him
sings duets with you
makes an impression on everyone he meets
builds the best snowman's
teases you about everything
master's the "shoulder boppin" dance move
makes everything he eats look sooo good
gives you advice
makes you dream bigger then the stars
is filled with passion
loves you no matter what
tells you everythings gonna be okay
believes in you
and is always with you.

Starlight Orchestra

the CAST (singers and dancers of the show)
josh, me, gregg, lindsay

me and my good friend gregg (also my 'partner' in the show) rockin' to some 80's tunes while getting ready for our show!

probably the funniest thing that has EVER happened to me.

The Story:
Cami: "Hey guys, where is my wig? It was just here!"
Everyone: [looks around the room everywhere we can think of]
Cami: "Seriously guys, where is my wig, did you take it?"
Lindsay: "uhhh Cami? Look down."
Everyone: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

can you believe that it landed perfectly like this?! hahaha SO FUNNY!!

disney's words of wisdom:01

when i was hanging out today, between my shows, we watched POCAHONTAS. (mind you... i was still on the clock for all this, so i was getting paid to watch pocahontas... haha not a bad job AT ALL i would have to say...)
but a lot of things stuck out to me that i though were SO GOOD.

this conversation:

Pocahontas: But Grandmother Willow, what is my path? How am I ever going to find it?

Grandmother Willow: Your mother asked me the very same question.

Poc: She did? What did you tell her?

GW: I told her to listen. All around you are spirits, child. They live in the earth, the water, the sky. If you LISTEN they will guide you.

Poc: I hear the wind.

GW: Yes. What is it telling you?

Poc: I don't understand.

GW: Que que na-to-ra
You will understand
Listen with your heart
You will understand
Let it break upon you
Like a wave upon the sand
Listen with your heart
You will understand

JUST AROUND THE RIVER BEND (love the lyrics)

What I love most about rivers is:
You can't step in the same river twice
The water's always changing, always flowing

But people, I guess, can't live like that
We all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What's around the riverbend?

Waiting just around the riverbend

I look once more
Just around the riverbend
Beyond the shore
Where the gulls fly free
Don't know what for
What I dream the day might send
Just around the riverbend
For me
Coming for m
e

I feel it there beyond those trees
Or right behind these waterfalls
Can I ignore that sound of distant drumming
For a handsome sturdy husband
Who builds handsome sturdy walls
And never dreams that something might be coming?
Just around the riverbend
Just around the riverbend

I look once more
Just around the riverbend
Beyond the shore
Somewhere past the sea
Don't know what for ...
Why do all my dreams extend
Just around the riverbend?
Just around the riverbend ...

Should I choose the smoothest curve
Steady as the beating drum?
Should I marry Kocoum?
Is all my dreaming at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver
Just around the riverbend?

mmmm i just love it...

*all around you there are spirits. if you listen they will guide you.
*listen with your heart.
*just like the river is always changing and FLOWING... so are our lives... changing and flowing.
*what's around the riverbend? coming for me...

once again, thanks disney

Summer @ Busch Gardens

where am i this summer?... Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, Virginia!

they came to our school in december and i audtioned and got a job PERFORMING!
getting paid to do what i love? heck yeah.

i'll be in the "STARLIGHT ORCHESTRA" singing big band jazz music.
there's only 4 of us who are singing, two boys and two girls, plus the live orchestra behind us. SO FUN.

i've actually started rehearsals already and its pretty tough because of the really tight, jazzy harmonies. but i guess that's what makes it so fun :)

we open June 9th. so i'll let you know how it is once we get into the performances.

just finished

if anyone of you have read twilight, new moon, and/or eclipse and you love Stephanie Meyer? then you need to read this book right now.

thrilling, illuminating, mind-blowing, intelligent, humorous, beautiful, compassionate, and powerful. all in one.

bye bye pittsburgh :(

this was at the COPA (conservatory of the performing arts) AWARDS. you basically look pretty, take pictures, and some people get awards. much like the tony's, but 'point park' style.

this was also a good time for me to take pictures with all my talented senior friends. i've gotten so close with ALL of them. i'm going to miss them all!
caroline kaiser, me and justin peebles. remember these names because seriously you are going to see these peoples names in lights one day.

this is Richard Rauh. he gives A LOT of money to tons of theatres in pittsburgh, especially ours. he is also the most hilarious person i've ever met. i mean just look at him.. haha i love this man. his glasses say it all...

he's also in the last part of Inspector Gadget where the inspector does something the blows his toupe off. so you'll definitely have to check that out.

katie and i packin' up our room.
didn't we JUST move in?... crazy...

this was my last night in pittsburgh :(

these are some of my fun senior friends, rich and kevin. they're best friends AND they're STRAIGHT!! (very rare in my school). they kind of remind me of my brothers (getting teased, joking around, beating up on each other) so they've definitely made this year memorable :) thanks guys.

bye bye pittsburgh. bye bye freshman year. bye bye seniors. thanks for the fun.

hello SUMMER!

this one's for Brad..

all my brother Brad does is watch the food network channel, so he's one of those weird people that knows that PRIMANTI BROTHERS (which is only located in pittsburgh) is the top 7th place to pig out in the nation, or something. clearly i did not know this, so he got mad at me when i came home during christmas and i hadn't eaten there yet. well i'd tried not to make the same mistake twice, so before i left pittsburgh for the summer i FINALLY ate at primanti's...

this sandwich is famous because all it has in it is has steak, tomatoes, fries, and cold slaw....
doesn't really sound that appealing, does it?

so here's to you brad!

really big.

yum.

and it actually wasn't that bad after all... really good actually :)
it definitely has my vote as the top 7th place to pig out.
thanks brad. love ya.

our date to the "incline"

my roommate katie and i decided to venture out and go on a date to the "INCLINE" before school ended... so around the end of april.... so like a month ago. haha

this is the INCLINE RAILWAY. pretty cool if you ask me..
here's a little description of the incline:

One of Pittsburgh's distinctive features is its cable-powered inclines (known elsewhere as funiculars) for transportation between the river valleys and the communities on top of the overlooking bluffs. At one time Pittsburgh had about fifteen inclines. Two of them remain, on the south bank of the Monongahela and Ohio Rivers, across from downtown Pittsburgh.

The cars are not self-powered, and do not even have operators on board. Instead, they are pulled up and down the inclined track by a cable driven by an engine in the upper station, where the operator works. The cars operate in pairs, permanently attached to opposite ends of a single cable, with one going uphill and the other going downhill simultaneously. The cars therefore counterbalance each other, so the engine needs to provide only enough power to overcome friction and the difference in the weight of the passengers in the two cars.

this is the view from the top. its rated in the top ten most beautiful overlooks of a city or something. really cool!

inspirational shot... haha we're dorks

katie and i have so much fun together. i'm so glad we found each other at college :)
this was a fun little date for us to do before we left for the summer.
